COME AND TRY – learn the basics
Come and Try sessions are held each month. Book through the ‘Eventbrite’ website.
Once a month, we provide an opportunity for anyone interested to learn the basics of croquet, both (GC) Golf Croquet and (AC) Association Croquet to attend a free friendly 2 hour session, ‘Come and Try’. (Anyone means people aged 12 and over).
We play 3 forms of croquet, traditional Association Croquet, Golf Croquet and Gateball. Each is somewhat different and all employ skill and strategy. Sometimes likened to playing chess or snooker on a lawn. All have a similar objective of scoring more hoops than your opponent. YouTube will provide you with videos about how croquet is played . Below is a video produced for the UK Croquet Association which provides some insight into the game and those hooked on playing it.
MEMBERSHIP
Lessons are required before joining the club. Unless you are a member of another croquet club. Mallet and tactical skills of Golf Croquet are taught over the course of six two hour sessions, ensuring that students wishing to pursue membership will be sufficiently acquitted to compete and enjoy the game. The cost of this package (for persons completely new to croquet) leading to membership is $100. On joining the club, a credit of $30 is applied to the membership fees. Membership is from 1st January to 31 December.
Only financial members are eligible to enter competitions. Members wishing to expand their game can also be coached to play Association Croquet and Gateball.
